WREATH RETIREMENT
A special THANKS to the crew from "IT'S HAUL GOOD" for volunteering their time and a truck to haul wreaths for recycling to the Fairfax dump on a chilly Saturday. Thanks to their help, and a crew of club members, spouses and volunteers from American Legion Post 184 all the wreaths were removed for recycling, and all the stakes were picked up for use next year. Members were pleased for the support as we wrap up
Wreaths Across America at Chestnut Grove Cemetery thanking and honoring the 926 veterans laid to rest.

The Herndon Woman’s Club is coordinating the
Wreaths Across America Ceremony Chestnut Grove Cemetery
on December 17, 2022 to honor the 920 veterans buried in Herndon.
The ceremony is open to the public and begins at 12:00 noon.
Parking is limited in the cemetery due to the large crowds. Large groups should consider carpooling.
There will be parking at Herndon High School (700 Bennett, Herndon, VA)
with a short walk across the street to the cemetery.
Donations for wreaths for Chestnut Grove Cemetery as well as Arlington National Cemetery
and other cemeteries in over 3,679 locations make it possible to honor veterans.

can be made ($15 per wreath) through the following website: https://wreathacrossamerica.org/VA0143P .

After the ceremony, those volunteering to place a wreath and thank a veteran, will be directed to several sections
in the cemetery where boxes of wreaths are located. Please remain in that section to place the wreath.
A stake has been placed by veteran graves in each section.

They use a mission based trauma recovery model to help recovering Warriors reconnect with life, their families, their communities and each other by interacting with dogs from birth through adulthood, training dogs for fellow wounded veterans. Warrior Trainers benefit from the animal - human connection, while wounded Warriors receive the benefit of a trained service dog. www.warriorcanineconnection.org |
