Arts CSP - 14 club members enjoyed making their own ornaments prior to Christmas
Wreaths Across America Ceremony Chestnut Grove Cemetery December 13, 2025. Active, retired and former military personnel placed a Memorial Wreath representing each branch of service:
US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Space Force, US Air Force, US Coast Guard, US Merchant Marine, POW/MIA Attendees thanked and honored the 1,001 veterans laid to rest, by placing a wreath on their grave and thanking them for their service. The Wreaths arrived mid-week from Maine via truck for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony on December 13.

CEO CSP held a Toy Drive benefitting LINKs Holiday Program. Over 100 toys were donated to support local families. Education CSP enjoyed the Clearview Book Fair December 1-4.

REMEMBER. HONOR. TEACH Clearview Elementary school showcase of veterans connected to parents, teachers, staff and family members. Reading books about veterans and making paracord lanyards for Operation Gratitude care packages. Health & Wellness CSP delivered Cosmetic Bags to Medical Missionaries. Bags will be distributed to teens in Appalachia during their holiday program. Support Chickens! Members donated two support chickens to The Residence at Great Falls this month to meet many of the memory care residents. Laughs were enjoyed by both residents and caregivers.
85th Anniversary of Herndon Woman's Club celebrated
on November 17. A few members modeled items purchased at The Closet in Herndon. After all, everyone likes a bargain. New tri-fold brochures distributed. HWC History updated - 1939 - 2024 and copies distributed. Items from club history shared at meeting. 85th Anniversary Celebration Cake shared. Education CSP: Herndon Elementary Book Fair - November 7-14 Thanks to ALL for the successful Fashion Show and Luncheon

HWC members participated in the Walk to End Alzlheimer's at Reston Town Center in October.
Four Wreaths Across America Committee members joined other volunteers and representatives from the Town of Herndon in a pilot historic reservation project at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The group learned to safely clean historic masonry and stone. The volunteers cleaned 10-12. gravestones, including the gravestone of George Cuthbert Hutchinson (1846-1905), a veteran of the Civil War and other members of the Hutchison family. CEO CSP prepared 50 goodie bags for children of injured Veterans who stay at the Willing Warriors retreat in Haymarket, VA

Education CSP members delivered 30 bears to the Herndon Police Department followed by another eight bears made by a club member.
A few days later, a few club members helped sort supplies for the 24 preschool classes of All Ages Read Together with Ms. Albert. A lovely day at Farmer's Market in Herndon sharing information about Wreaths Across America Ceremony at Chestnut Grove Cemetery on December 13, 2025 at Noon. HWC members volunteered at Herndon HS by manning stations at the "Welcome Back Wellness" activities for staff. This year club members squeezed in between the Dem and GOP tents at the Farmer's Market giving an extra splash of red, white and blue. July 2025
A donation was made to Veteran's Moving Forward facility from proceeds from Wreaths Across America. These animals are currently in training as club members present a check to Kellie and Katie and Charlie. Piper is taking a short break.

Installation of new Officers was held in our June meeting at ArtsHerndon before a short summer break in July and August. Members will continue to prepare for upcoming projects, including fundraisers for this fall. Congratulations to all.
May 2025
Civic Engagement and Outreach CSP provided a smoker to the Herndon Fire Department. A fire alarm can be sounded at any time, including when the group is preparing their meals.
An Honor Flight hosting all military women from the Upper Peninsula arrived at Dulles Airport. The group was escorted to Washington, DC by several police groups. Official dedication of Mural by Arts & Culture CSP
Environment CSP members were busy replacing plants to brighten the large containers in front of ArtsHerndon. The LOVE sign and the characters behind the planters certainly do brighten a day.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Arts CSP presented the "selfie wall" located behind the Breeze Restaurant. The Mayor cut the ribbon as the artist Matt Long was congratulated. Many thanks to our donors:

Mayor's Volunteer Appreciation Reception Twenty one of the 36 Herndon Woman's Club members who volunteered over 100 hours last year attended the Mayor's Reception. Club members participated in the MS Walk at Reston Town Center New Member Meeting Overview of club for new members A few HWC Members attended the Northern District Spring Meeting. During a short break they enjoyed the view along the Occoquan River Bank A few members from Environment CSP visited Riverbend Park to walk among acres of Virginia Bluebells by The Potomac River. Civic Engagement & Outreach CSP collected diapers, wipes and feminine products for LINK. Our giving members did CLEAN UP by donating over 3,008 diapers, 5,634 wipes, 786 feminine hygiene products and adult incontinence products.

Columbia Falls, Maine
Columbia, Maryland Mission BBQ co-founders Bill Kraus and Steve Newton, presented a donation of $352,930 to Wreaths Across America executive director Karen Worcester in Columbia, MD thanks to the generosity of Mission BBQ customers support. Wreaths Across America will be held December 13, 2025 across the US. Two HWC members represented our club and enjoyed meeting Morill and Karen Worcester and others Health & Wellness CSP met to
assemble comfort bags to donate to She Believes in Me Members reviewing materials from
the past for retention due to increase in storage charges. Storage required to store stakes for Wreaths Across America vs member's home. Education & Libraries had help
from club members in making blankets for Project Linus. The 59 cozy blankets were picked up in front of Joanne Fabrics on a chilly Saturday afternoon. Arts & Culture

Club members rescheduled participation working on several projects at Holy Cross Church. Socks were filled with rice to keep small animals warm when healing. Fringe on blankets for Project Linus were completed by members. Paracord bracelets were made by club members for military use. January 2025
Wreaths Across America
Chestnut Grove Cemetery Wreaths were removed from the 950+ veteran grave site thanks to a small group of club members, and local participants. It's Haul Good filled their truck for transfer to the dump Civic Engagement and Outreach
enjoyed creating hand made greeting cards to share with Veterans. Members include a brief note to each veteran. Last month, one female veteran turned 100 years young. Members enjoy wishing them a Happy Birthday and thanking them for their service. |

Volunteer Hours 2024
During 2024 66 club members provided support to the Community Service Programs (CSPs) and various Committee activities and projects. The CSPs included Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement and Outreach, Education and Libraries, Environment, and Health and Wellness. A total of 58 projects were completed with a total of 4,823 volunteer hours. The 21 committee projects totaled 1,211 hours. Members also worked on four fundraising activities totaling 1,527 hours. |
