Our beloved member, Elma Louise Moffett Mankin (age 93) passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018. She was born on August 26, 1924 to William Henry and Mary Elizabeth Thompson Moffett. Elma was predeceased by her husband, Wilson Douglas Mankin, her beloved daughter, Nancy Mankin Bland and three brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Gayle Mankin Fulcher (Tom); her son-in-law, Tom Bland (Beth); six grandchildren and their spouses, Todd Fulcher (Tina), Mark Fulcher (Kerry), Robin Fulcher Jones (Jason), Kurt Bland (Meredith), Lisa Fulcher Jordan (Kevin) and Matt Bland (Beth); eight great- grandchildren, Logan and Ryan Fulcher, Zoe Jones, Hank Fulcher, Caris and Emerson Bland, and Cora and Alex Jordan; four sisters, Betty Tavenner, Mary Ellen Judd, Ginny Bernstorff and Beverly Landymore; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mankin was an active member of Herndon United Methodist Church and the Herndon Woman’s Club. She was involved in many civic organizations and was honored in 2001 as Herndon Rotary Club Citizen of the Year. We fondly called Elma the “Queen of Herndon” because she captured the hearts of those around her. Elma joined the Herndon Woman’s Club in 1949 and served as President from 1954 – 1955. Family will receive friends on Monday, May 7 from 6-8 pm at ADAMS-GREEN Funeral Home 721 Elden St. Herndon, VA. Services will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Herndon United Methodist Church 701 Bennett St. Herndon, VA. Interment Chestnut Grove Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Herndon Woman’s Club PO Box 231 Herndon, VA 20172 for a scholarship to be established in Elma’s memory.
