WHAT'S  HAPPENING

Arts and Culture CSP celebrated a new adddition to Herndon Downtown with a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the "Summer Symphony" wall mural, created by local artist Patricia Eprem.  The vibrant art work captures the energy of a bright summer day with beautiful flora, fauna, and bird song!

HWC nenbers and other characters participated in the
MS WALK at  Reston Town Center again this year.

Herndon history came alive during a guided walk led by Barbara Glakas of the Herndon Historical Society. A few HWC members heard unique local stories and viewed historical photos that illustrate how life in Herndon has changed over the years.
The Herndon Depot Museum is open on Sundays.  If interested in exploring the local heritage, stop by to pick up a brochure for a self-guided walking tour of the area.

Environment CSP enjoyed a walk at Riverbend Park again this year to checkout the bluebells and oter spring flowers.  Member, as well as Sara the dog had a lovely time.
Education CSP helped out at Clearview Elementary Book Fair in April.  Science was the theme of the book fair.
HSC collected 1,400 children books since last September. The books wer donated to Books Are Food For Your Brain, a local non-profit working to promote and increase literacy by ensuring children have books in their homes.  The book donations came from club members, their families, plus 300 books from The Closet of the Greater Herndon Area.

The Arts and Culture CSP is continuing their efforts to beautify the downtown area by creating another TWO murals. We welcome mural artist, Patricia Eprem, to create her magic on the walls behind The Breeze. If the weather cooperates, she’ll be painting by the end of April. Stay tuned for a growing garden of delights!
Health and Wellness CSP partnered with other local Women's Clubs to support residents at Harmony House of Chantilly in Herndon.  We donated thoughtful Bingo prizes (puzzle books, picture frames,  notepads, candy, soaps, and more).
Activities like Bingo do more than entertain.  They stimulate cognitive function, encourage social interaction, and boost emotional wellbeing, all essential to healthy aging.  Seniors LOVE these activities and LOVE winning the prizes.
Education CSP donated more bears to Herndon Police Department.  The officers keep bears in their patrol cars for children when answering a police call.  They also give bears to children visiting their station.

February 2026
The Arts CSP honored a long time member by providing material for residents of The Kensington to make "Trayscapes," with a kit theme  related to Valentine's Day.  The residents enjoyed creating their own piece of ephemeral art from the material which could make a different outcome each time. The activity director indicated the residents looked forward to doing more.  They felt "Tinka" was with them in spirit.
CEO CSP continues to provide supplies to make greeting cards for military personnel  to have on hand.
CEO Members made First Aid Kits for families at LINK

WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA
CHESTNUT GROVE CEMETERY

MANY THANKS to everyone who helped place wreaths to THANK, HONOR and REMEMBER a veteran at the Ceremony last month.
A special THANKS to It's Haul Good for providing their truck after removal of every wreath prior to the drop of temperatures and snow and ice storm. THANKS to the few dozen folks that helped pick up wreaths and stakes. THANKS also to Mission BBQ for providing some delicious food for our group after the cleanup.  They are constantly showing support for Veterans throughout the year.
MLK Day of Service January 19
