The inviting home of the host Pat Stark, along with warm weather was a great setting for the new member social this month. Sharon Harrington and the Membership Committee made sure to have food for all the guests. The club Officers and Department Chairs attending sought out new members in order to become better acquainted in this informal setting. There were many conversations as people arrived, giving all a chance to interact and to enjoy some tasty food. Eventually everyone gathered around for introductions. Twelve of the fifteen new members were available to attend the meeting, some for a brief time due other commitments, bringing the total to 29 members.
The Officers and Department Chairs were introduced and shared information about themselves as well as the types of activities supported. Additional information was shared related to Departments and Committees, giving several examples. Many projects are successful due to the help of all HWC members. A few of the Committees are considered fund raisers for HWC: Fashion Show, White House Ornaments, Wreaths Across America and others. Needless to say, the involvement of HWC members is amazing and perhaps a bit overwhelming. It was recommended that new members take time to find a Department related to their specific interest to join as well as any Committees that require help. HWC members enjoy providing support to the local community and fresh, new ideas and talents are welcome.
